Check Engine Light

What causes a “Check Engine” light to illuminate? It could indicate one of several things as the engine management computer activates the light for problems with emission, ignition, fuel injection Check engine lightor even a mechanical engine problem. If the “Check Engine” light comes on steady, (not flashing) and the engine appears to run normally, the car can usually be driven short term, but a service appointment should be made soon. If the engine runs rough, hesitates, bucks, stalls, or cuts out, more immediate attention is needed. If the “Check Engine” light is flashing, that is an indication the engine emissions are high enough to possibly damage the catalytic converter, so the car should not continue to be driven. You can try stopping the car, turn off the engine and on again. If the light continues to flash, call us for further directions and information.
